appointment of ambassador Roberto Azevêdo as general director of the WTO (World
Trade Organization) for the 2013-2017 term. Brazil is a founding member of the
WTO but has never elected the organization’s general director.
The deadline to submit candidacies is December 31. The elections are
held between March 31 and May 31, 2013, and candidates from South Korea, Ghana,
Kenya, Costa Rica, Mexico, Jordan, New Zealand and Indonesia also are running.
